Here is an incredible ambrotype of an Osage indian seated in full native costume. He wears the trademark hat of the Osage tribe and appears to have a traditional decorated sash or loincloth. He is holding some type of decorated bag and wears several necklaces. The ambro has some unusual staining but is still in fairly good shape and has the typical black velvet behind the image. Image comes in nice full case pictured in adjacent image on the site. $475

Fantastic image of a gentleman named Joseph Neily from Nova Scotia. His info was nicely tucked behind the image, stating he lived in Aylesford, Nova Scotia & a little research revealed he was born in 1821 & became a successful farmer. Here, Joseph holds proudly his firearm & stares into the photographers lens. I am not familiar with the type of shotgun he carries. A few scratches to the emulsion do not deminish this super ambro. The image is enclosed in a full case with a repaired hinge. $395

I purchased this image originally because the woman looked to me to be a hard working ethnic woman wearing bandages on her hands & placed in front of an incredible painted backdrop. She has these unique bandages strapped to her wrists with leather cords. Can we talk about this background? A steamed paddleboat, multiple sailboats, a large plantation house up on a hill name just a few of the awesome details. Housed in full leatherette case with repaired hinge. $550

A rare ambrotype image with two men, a horse and dog shot with several buildings off in the distance. I love the way the this gent holds his crop and is pushing down hard in the stirrups with his boots. A man holds the bridle to help secure the horse for both the rider and the photographer. The man's dog sits impatiently below the horse in particle blur. Nice ambro in full case with interesting scalloped oval mat. $175

The ruby ambro is housed in a mint Berg octagonal case 3-393 (S). I was please to find this note behind his likeness: Dear Mother, "Thy kindness shall never, never be forgotten and from thy good advice, I hope to make a man of myself and walk in the path you have taught me. The path that had honor and heaven. Your dutiful son. Robb D. Silver I find her son's note endearing with nice penmanship too. $165

I do not know who looks tougher here, the father or the daughter. The pert, strong will of this little cutie comes out in her crossed arm pose, while her father wears a worn hat and beard. The face and dress of this little girl's 1/9 plate is tastefully executed. Both images come included in a Berg 3-307 (C) Union case. The outside of the case has a few stains as its only imperfections. $240

Purchased from England, this wonderful image of 2 men & a kid in a horse drawn cart travel down the street while captured by the local photographer. What I discovered after acquiring this ambro, was the full name of the business in the background hidden under the mat; Burnham's Livery & Bait Stables. On the right, I could easily read the word as "Hound" & was surprised to see the letters R & E. Could it truly be? "GREY HOUND"? If so, next to the stables make sense. Berg 2-135 two tiny chips $400
