This is an excellent example of a stunning woman vignetted upon a plate typical of the Boston Daguerreians. She sits posed in a 3/4 angle. She is nicely sculpted within the light of the operators studio. A few stains on the left side of the image & a bit of tarnish near the mat do not distract from her portrait. She remains simply styled except for her amazingly styled hair. Super sharp with subtle tinting on her face. VVR Union Case, "Children Playing w/ Pet" #1. $800

A very pretty close-up of a woman with light tinting on her cheeks peers directly at the operator in this beautiful 1/9th plate. ID'ed as Lucinda White w/ an advertising card by Davis & Co. behind the image. An older archival reseal has been done to this plate & the only flaw is a small ding near her right shoulder. I love how her bonnet beautifully frames this woman's face. A rare embossment on a full leather case with a rich silk pad protects this portrait with excellent contrast. $175

William Shew's Boston business label has been tacked behind this incredible 1/6 plate of two sisters in matching dresses & pigtails. The sisters are sitting with intertwined arms in two separate studio chairs in front of a primitive hand painted landscape background. The plate has beautiful blue tarnish which happens to match the blue velvet pad inside this "Lady with Falcon #2" Union case Berg 1-113. An image of two angel faced girls. $775
The plate containing these two sweet girls has a beautiful blue tarnish ring which happens to match the rich blue velvet pad inside this "Lady with Falcon #2" Union case Berg 1-113. A tiny hairline at clasp and a small mark near the tail of the horse on the front side of the case are the only two imperfections I can find. Here is an opportunity to purchase an early example of Mr. Shew's fine mastery housed in a great case. $775
What a face! A classic beauty, this woman's gaze could melt any man's heart. She wears an exquisite lace collar, beautiful jewelry and black fingerless gloves. Her cheeks have been softly tinted a nice rose tone & her hair wonderfully groomed. I love her strong feminine pose with her elbow's shape matching the shape of the octagonal pebbled mat. Housed inside a near mint Berg 3-135 Union case. $350

Although this 1/6 plate has some staining, I am fascinated by this ID'ed woman wearing an unusually stunning fringed dress. Carrie, is the only name used on the note that accompanies this image. She stares off camera with tinting applied to her face & on the table beside her. The 1850's plate has hallmarks by famous French silversmith, Charles Christofle. Edges of plate are rolled towards the rear with clipped corners. Berg 3-192 (C) $265

Rare image of an older woman wearing four large delicate pink-tinted mums tucked inside her bonnet. Her lips also contain similar tinting as she stares matronly towards the photographer. A larger white imperfection in the lower left is the largest flaw on this unique 1/9th plate. She has been added to a fairly worn Union case with multiple cracks & a hairline near the clasp. Although the exterior of case is dirty, the case protects & displays well. $140

"About 10 years old, Hinretta L. Nill" is written inside a note behind this 1/9th plate. Miss Nill, is obviously from a well-to-do family as seen by the quality of her clothing, including a fur collared coat; only reserved for the affluent. A stain most likely in the original plate crosses her sweet freckled face. A bonnet with a satin ribbon frames her face in this likeness. Resealed with new glass & added to a Berg 1-143 Aurora 1 (S) in near mint condition with slight rubs to two edges. $195

The awesome little man in this 1/9th plate holds a cane or walking stick of some sort & wears an incredible outfit, including a Robin Hood styled hat. Note the daguerreian's belt buckle which held this sweet boy frozen while the exposure was made. One can overlook the unfortunate old abrasions to this plate when they enjoy viewing this unusual child image in this resealed plate with new glass. A Berg 2-95 w/ tiny chip near clasp protects this plate. $225
